Dr. Bhagat hails from the picturesque Green Mountain State of Vermont, where he developed a love for the outdoors, skiing, maple syrup, and of course, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. It was in Vermont that he discovered his passion for dentistry, particularly periodontics, which set him on a path to pursue this specialty further.
He traded his mountain boots for sandals and moved to the sunny beaches of South Florida, where he completed both his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Doctor of Dental Medicine at Nova Southeastern University within seven years. During his time in dental school, Dr. Bhagat’s dedication to periodontics earned him several awards from the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Bhagat’s journey then took him from the beaches of Florida to the cornfields of Iowa, where he earned his degree in periodontology from the University of Iowa. Embracing the Hawkeye spirit, he became an avid supporter of their football and basketball teams. During his residency, he also completed a master’s degree, focusing his research on the impact of orthodontic therapy on the oral microbiome, which he presented at various local and regional conferences. His research received honorable mention at the Graduate Student Research Forum poster competition at the Midwest Society of Periodontology’s annual conference in Chicago.
Dr. Bhagat and his wife have recently found their forever home in North Carolina, eagerly looking forward to exploring the state’s abundant outdoor adventures. In his free time, Dr. Bhagat enjoys cooking and playing ultimate frisbee. He looks forward to serving the community and providing exceptional care.
